Q: How do I make a pipe marker that is 32 inches long? I'd like to create a pipe marker using Microsoft Word for "Chilled Water Return" using 4 inch X 32 inches vinyl.
A: Since Microsoft Word has a maximum page length of 22", it won't be your best choice for the size of pipe marker you need. Graphic Products has a program that allows you make pipe markers virtually any length. The DuraSuite Labeling Software comes with DuraLabel printers and includes a built-in pipe marking module. Choose from hundreds of common pipe marking terminology, flow-direction arrows, pipe marker sizes, configurations, fonts, graphics, and much more.
Q: Why is the text that I try to print come out at the top of the label? The preview on my screen looks perfectly centered, but it is all at the top when printed.
A: Your display settings need to be set up at 100% or the program will not function correctly. For instance, if your settings are set to 125%, it will cause the Pipe Marking Module to print text that is shifted up. Changing your display settings on Windows 7 is easy. Right-click on your desktop and choose "Personalize," then click "Display" in the lower-left corner. For Windows XP, right-click on your desktop and choose "Properties," then click on the settings tab and choose "Advanced." Make sure that your DPI is set to "Normal" (96 DPI).
Q: Do you have any suggestions for reducing the need to frequently clean the cutter when using the DuraLabel High-Tack labeling supply?
A: It is recommended that if you print many labels using the High Tack labeling supply to upgrade your cutter to one with a Teflon® blade.
Q: It seems like the front spool of my label printer is no longer rotating. When I try to print, the ribbon feeds out along with the vinyl supply and gets cut off. How can this be fixed?
A: Check "Drivers Printing Preferences" from the "Stock" tab, then select "Thermal Transfer" under "Media Settings." If the setting was accidentally set to Direct Thermal, the ribbon rewind motor will be turned off. If you correct this but still have the problem, please call Technical Support to troubleshoot.
Q: Our computer is getting upgraded to Windows 64-bit. Is there a software upgrade available?
A: Download a PDF guide that explains how to complete a 64-bit install.
Q: After changing my ribbon from black to white, it quit printing. What do I do?
A: Try recalibrating your label printer. Power down your printer and hold down the feed button on top while turning the power back on. After the LED blinks red three times, release the feed button. The printer will begin to feed out supply as it calibrates. Try printing again and if the problem persists, please call Technical Support at 1-888-326-9244.
Q: There isn't anyone on my team that knows how to create a vertical label. Is there a user's manual available that can help explain the type of labels we can print?
A: The best way to create a vertical label is to use the "Portrait" stock orientation in the DuraSuite Labeling Software's Pipe Marking module. For more tips and tricks, check out our online training videos.
Q: When I try to print a label, it prints a blank label instead.
A: If your ribbon was changed recently, it might have been loaded upside down. If it isn't upside down, check to see if the print preview is blank. If it is, the template is corrupt and you should try remaking it. If neither of those were the issue, it could be that you are using incompatible supplies, your darkness setting is not set high enough, or your driver is corrupt. Call Technical Support to troubleshoot if you need further assistance.
