The Globally Harmonized System of Chemical Classification (GHS) uses a common and consistent approach to labeling and classifying chemical hazards to ensure optimal environmental health and workplace safety across the world.

OSHA plans to finalize and implement GHS in the U.S. sometime after 2012. It will change the Hazard Communication System to adopt the label provision of the GHS that requires harmonized pictograms, hazard statements, and signal words. This means that employers will have to update their current Right-to-Know labels.

This guide provides complete information on GHS chemical labeling and information requirements and explains how your company can update its Right-to-Know labels to fully comply with GHS by the time it is implemented in 2012.
