The 5S system focuses on
effective workplace organization and standardized
procedures to improve safety, quality,
productivity and employee attitudes. The
5S System was first introduced in Japan.
Because of its effectiveness it has become
accepted around the world.
The
benefits of a 5S Program include a
reduction in wasted time and materials;
reduced maintenance and downtime; improved
daily or shift startup times; improved
employee morale; improved efficiency and
productivity; and simplification of the
work environment.
