Frequently Asked Questions.

Why Is The Light On The Printer Flashing Red?

  1. If the first label prints and cuts before causing an error…

    • The most likely problem is that there is a back feed problem and the vinyl guides need to be cleaned or possibly widened to prevent the vinyl from jamming. This happens directly over the media sensor as the tape backs up after the cut and gets stuck on the guides.

    • Be sure to turn off the printer and unplug it, before cleaning the printer.

  2. If the first label prints but doesn't cut before causing an error…

    • The most likely problem is that the media type is set to "labels with gaps". It should be set to "continuous."

  3. If the printer does not attempt to print…

    • The most likely problem is that the printer is not shut properly.

  4. If the printer tries to print but errors immediately…

    • The most likely cause is that the supply or ribbon is not properly loaded.

  5. If the printer tries to print, but the ribbon feeds through the cutter with the vinyl…

    • In this case the printer stock settings are probably set to "use printer settings" or "direct thermal" and should be changed to "thermal transfer."

  6. If you are printing arc flash labels (or other die cut labels)…

    • The printer may have missed sensing the gap correctly. Try resetting the gap by powering down the printer, holding the feed button while powering on, releasing the feed button while the printer flashes red five consecutive times. Make sure to release the feed button during the five red flashes.

If the above does not work, thoroughly clean all of the sensors.
