DuraLabel PRO vs Brady MiniMark
Desktop label and sign printers are very popular in facilities that have a variety of labeling tasks to complete. Many desktop labelers are industrial labelers that create professional looking labels. The DuraLabel PRO and the Brady MiniMark are both desktop labelers. However, they share a few differences that may influence the ease of use and how fast a labeling project can be completed. SOFTWAREBoth the DuraLabel PRO and the Brady MiniMark are not stand-alone printers. They function by connecting to computer with a Windows operating system. The difference in this set up, is that other than installing printer drivers, the DuraLabel PRO does not require any other software installation to run. (However, there are optional arc flash and chemical databases you can install from a free software CD included in your purchase.) After installing the driver, you can begin using a word processing program such as Microsoft Word or Open Office to create your labels. The Brady MiniMark on the other hand, requires the installation of Markware. This means you will have to learn and master completely new programs before you can make a label that compliant with the many standards out there. MOBILITYWith an addition of the optional slim and light battery, the DuraLabel PRO can go on field trips with you. This gives you freedom in creating labels on the spot anytime and anywhere you need them. All it takes is a laptop and the DuraLabel battery for the DuraLabel PRO to work. The Brady MiniMark can be connected to a laptop as well, of course. However, it does not have the same freedom the DuraLabel posses because of its lack of battery. It requires an outlet which isn't easily reached. SUPPLIESThe DuraLabel PRO has access to many different types of supplies. The DuraLabel caters to specialty labeling such as low-light labeling, wire markers, shrink tube, etc. Also, DuraLabel supplies have an average outdoor life of seven years, two years more than other labeling materials on the market. Finally, you can print all these supplies at a rate of 5 inches per second versus the Brady MiniMark's print speed topping off at 3 inches per second. These are only a couple features that gives the DuraLabel PRO an edge over the Brady MiniMark. But these additional features might be exactly what you need in your facility. DuraLabel PRO combines high speed with high quality
It's a fast paced world out there. The DuraLabel printers are tools that can help you survive the cutthroat pace. Depending on the material and what you're printing, the DuraLabel PRO thermal transfer printer can print at an astounding 5 inches per second! This printing speed is a rarity among label and sign printers. One of the reasons why most printers can't print this fast is because the print head might not transfer ink at high speeds. The DuraLabel PRO counters this with a feature that allows you to determine the darkness of the print job. Since it is a thermal transfer printer, the higher the darkness, the easier it is to transfer the resin (ink) onto the labeling supply. The DuraLabel PRO combines excellent print quality with fast print speed to save you time. You don't need to rework or reprint labels, and you get impressive looking visual displays in mere moments. The DuraLabel PRO website provides more information on the impressive new printer as well as the DuraLabel supplies that work with it. Labels: DuraLabel PRO, Labeling Machine

Compare Machines Before You Purchase A Labeler
There are many labeling machine manufacturers making industrial quality labeling machines. But when you start to compare these machines you'll notice they are mostly very similar. Each tries to incorporate a feature or two that will differentiate them from all the rest, but when you look at what the machine can do... they basically all make the same types of labels. Just about all industrial labeling machines use thermal printing. While some produce better quality printing than others, for example 300 dpi vs. 203 dpi, that's not where you'll find the real difference in labeling machines. Yes, you want to get a rugged, reliable printer that's easy to use. That's basic. But, what is it that really makes a difference? It's the three S's. -- Supplies. Service. Support. Supplies: The supplies available for a machine are what determine how useful that labeling machine will be. No matter how good a machine is, if you can't get the appropriate supplies for the labeling jobs you need to get done, the machine is worthless. The DuraLabel 4TTP shines in all of these areas. It is a rugged, high quality (300 dpi), reliable label printer... and it has more types of supplies available than any other label printer in it's class. The DuraLabel 4TTP has a huge selection of industrial grade vinyl tapes available, in two thicknesses. You can also get specialized tapes such as metalized, reflective and low temperature. There are also die-cut labels available, including specialized labels for making arc flash and RTK labels. From ipe markers to warehouse bar coding, the DuraLabel 4TTP can get the job done. Service & Support: When it comes to service and support you can't beat the DuraLabel 4TTP. You'll see the outstanding service right from the beginning when your DuraLabel printer and supplies ship the same day you place your order. Plus, you'll have free lifetime support with the DuraLabel. Whether your question is about the DuraLabel, DuraLabel supplies, or about labeling in general, you can always call a toll-free number (or send an email) and quickly get an answer. When it comes time to purchase your next label printer, take a few moments to compare what you're getting... you'll find the DuraLabel 4TTP comes out on top. Labels: Labeling Machine

Buying A Labeling Machine
What do you need to know before buying a labeling machine? There is an excellent tutorial on the Industrial Labelers site that discusses this topic. It points out that you first need to determine three things: 1) What kind of labels do I need? 2) How will the labels be used? 3) Where will the labels be used? These are important questions because they determine the types of supplies that will be required to make the labels you need. Once you've determine what supplies are needed, you can create a short list of labeling machines that have those supplies available. In some cases there may not be a single labeler that has all the required supplies. For example, if you need to print large 10" x 12" labels for outdoor storage tanks, and also make shrink tube labels for wires, there are no machines that can do both of these. In this case you'll need to look at purchasing two machines. You could then get one machine that prints the large labels and can handle other labeling needs such as RTK or arc flash warning labels. The second machine might then be a small handheld model that electricians can carry with them to label wires and cables on the spot. There are many labelers available, some designed for specific applications, others--like the DuraLabel 4TTP--that can handle a variety of tasks. The Industrial Labelers tutorial will help you focus on your labeling requirements, but it may also be useful to get recommendations from an experienced labeling expert, such as those at Graphic Products (1-800-788-5572), to determine which specific machines will best serve your needs.
