Graphic Products has announced their new CryoTape supply for DuraLabel PRO printers (as well as the DuraLabel 4TTP).

CryoTape is designed to withstand liquid nitrogen temperatures (LN2) and can be used in environments within a temperature range of -112F up to 176F. CryoTape has a 2.0-mil gloss topcoat that resists smudging and abrasion and uses a permanent acrylic adhesive that provides superior bonding on both high- and low-energy surfaces.

What can go wrong with vinyl?

The DuraLabel supply of vinyl comes in two different types: a thinner 2 mil vinyl and a thicker 3.2 mil vinyl. DuraLabel supplies include a variety of die-cut labels, from round blank labels to preprinted RTK labels. With die-cut labels each label on a roll has the same shape and size.

Here's a quick summary:

DuraLabel RTK Labels are available in two styles, NFPA Diamond and color bar. The difference is in how the color code used to indicate types of hazards is displayed.

NFPA Diamond RTK labels are available in the following sizes:

• 2" x 2"
• 3" x 5"
• 4" x 6"
• 4" x 4" (NFPA Diamond Only)

Color bar RTK labels are available in the following sizes:

DuraLabel Arc Flash labels are available in three languages, with either a WARNING or DANGER header preprinted on the label. The arc flash labels are available in a 4" x 6". Arc flash labels may be printed using the arc flash database software included with the DuraLabel, or generic software such as Microsoft Excel may be used.

Blank Die-Cut Labels

Blank labels with either a preprinted DANGER or NOTICE header are available for the DuraLabel. This provides an economical way to products custom multiple color labels. In addition, blank labels with nothing at all printed on them, are available in the following sizes.

• 4" x 6" Rectangle
  
• 1" and 2" Diameter Circles
  
• 2" x 3" Oval

The rectangle labels all have rounder corners. This provides a more professional looking label. But in addition to good looks, there is a strong technical reason for rounded corners. As a label ages it typically will start peeling up from the corners. A rounded corner helps to prevent this from happening, giving your labels longer life.

The DuraLabel has a range of RTK die cut labels available. "RTK" stands for "Right To Know". These are labels that are applied to containers to inform employees and emergency response personal about the contents of the container. This is important whether the container holds hazardous materials or not.

Duralabel 4 supplies include both NFPA and Color Bar RTK labels. These are supplied as die cut because the color codes are preprinted on the label. Database software, included with the DuraLabel, is designed to print on these labels. The following label sizes are available:

3.2 mil vinyl is a strong, durable vinyl that is appropriate for most labels and signs. The disadvantage is that, when applied to curved surfaces, it will tend to "straighten out" and the strength of the vinyl is such that under some circumstances it may not stay stuck on a curved surface.

The 2.0 mil vinyl is more flexible and conforms better to irregular surfaces. It is less forceful in trying to return to its original shape. When you need to apply a label or sign around a curved surface, or on an irregular surface, then the 2.0 mil vinyl is the better option.

That's why DuraLabel 4 supplies give you two options when selecting vinyl. You can use the heavier, and thus more durable--but stiffer--3.2 mil vinyl. Or if you'll be labeling on curved or irregular surfaces you can use the lighter, more flexible 2.0 mil vinyl.
