What Is A Pipe Marker?
According to the ANSI/ASME code standards, whenever there is a pipe or container carrying or holding a dangerous substance it must be properly labeled. A pipe marker is a label that can be applied directly to the pipe or container with information about the pipe contents, direction of flow, potential hazard, and other necessary information.
Pipe markers can be created using DuraLabel premium vinyl tape for everyday use, or pipe marking specialty supplies such as: BoldGlo Phosphorescent Tapes, Reflective Vinyl Tapes, XPressPeel Premium Vinyl Tapes, NFPA Diamond Labels (RTK), or DuraChem Chemical Resistant Tapes. What About Special Conditions?
For hard to label locations use DuraTags and/or Valve Tags. Tags are a great option for labeling pipe valves, signs for cyclone fences, circuit breakers, or letting others know there is work in progress. Always label overhead pipes so labels are placed below the horizontal center line of the pipe, and label lower pipes so the label is placed above the horizontal center line of the pipe. Labels should be eye level to a person who may be approaching the pipe. If pipes are greasy or too dirty to apply an adhesive label, use Pipe Grabber™ Sleeves that will just snap into place and provide a clean, smooth surface for adhering labels.
