Pipe Marking - Australian Standards

Using color to identify the contents of pipes, conduits, and ducts should follow the Australian Standard AS 1345. Standardization of pipe marking will avoid possible confusion, injury, and other hazardous incidents. Using a pipe marker to list the hazards can reduce the risk of hazards in the workplace. Markers should be placed adjacent to all junctions, valves, service appliances, bulkhead and wall penetrations.

The following standard color coding is used to identify services in accordance with AS 1345:

SERVICECOLOR CODE
Electric Power Orange
Dangerous materials Gold yellow
Communications White
Gases Yellow ochre
Water Green
Other fluids Black
SERVICECOLOR CODE
Fire Services Red
